We all have a budget for our wedding day and the costs soon add up, so finding ways to save on the little things will leave more room for the bigger parts of your special day. But can you save and still have beautiful stationery? Here are my 5 top tips on how to cut costs without sacrificing beautiful wow factor stationery for your wedding.
Before ordering your stationery, sit with your partner and work out what you need and what would be a nice to have. It's so easy to see something amazing that you adore but don't really need, and before you know it you've blown your budget. Carefully think about what is required and what you could go without, this will make it easier when deciding where to spend. Follow these top tips and you won't go wrong.
Tip 1 - Combine what you can
This may sound strange but there are so many items you can combine into one product, reducing costs significantly. For example, you could combine menus and place cards, saving you the cost of an additional menu card, just add the guest's menu choice to the back of the place card.
Double side activities and thank you's. Check out these fabulous thank you cards combined with a scavenger hunt on the back, keeps your guests entertained and thanks them for sharing your day cutting costs in half. Or, if you're looking at favours, add tags with guest names and save the need for place cards.
Why not go one step further and combine three in one? These fans are perfect for the table and even better on hot days to keep guests cool. Plus, it saves having lots of sheets of card lying around and filling up table space.
Tip 2 - Go for an all in one invitation or as few inserts as possible
Sometimes we add everything guests could possibly know about the day to the invite, but do we actually need to? Try if you can to minimise it down if you're struggling on cost. The less inserts the less the invite cost. If you do have a lot of information though, the next best thing is to opt for either double sided inserts (these are typically less than 3 separate ones) or go for an all in one like a concertina, this will save you money and mean inserts can't get lost.
Tip 3 - Don't just have things because they're nice
I know there are SO many ideas and beautiful creations out there, but don't get caught up in that too much, as before you know it you'll have blown the budget on things you didn't actually need. Try to keep focussed on what's required, and then if there is money left at the end, by all means go all out.
Tip 4 - Try to stick to print
When looking at types of print, try to avoid glitters, foils and vellum when trying to keep costs low. These materials are expensive at cost value so will always hike up the price. Instead, be creative with the print, we can always add gradients to give things a metallic effect and save you a lot of pennies in the process.
Tip 5 - Stick to your budget
As much as it's lovely to have lots of things on your wedding day, don't blast your budget on things that are just extras. The most important thing is you are your partner marrying and having your loved ones around you on your special day. Everything else is simply a plus. Stick to your budget and you won't need to stress or worry.
Most of all, remember to enjoy the planning and browsing all the beautiful stationery out there, after all, you only do it once.
